Dr. LaTasha Lewis earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry at Tuskegee University and her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Riley’s Children’s Health in Indianapolis, a fellowship in pediatric critical care at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit and a fellowship in pediatric cardiac intensive care at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

A native of Huntsville, Ala., Dr. Lewis has been in practice since 2004. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine and holds certifications in basic life support, pediatric advanced life support and advanced cardiovascular life support. Dr. Lewis specializes in treating critically ill pediatric patients, pediatric and adult congenital heart disease patients and pediatric patients with acquired heart disease who are hospitalized in intensive care.

Throughout her career, Dr. Lewis has been a strong advocate of family-centered care, diversity, equity and inclusion. She is co-founder of Melanin Congenital Heart Society, which focuses on educating the black community on congenital heart disease, providing a support network for black congenital heart disease patients and their families, and collaborating with health care providers and organizations to help improve disparities and racial bias that affect black congenital heart disease patients, their families and caregivers. 

She is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society.

Dr. Lewis is married to a physician and has a daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching and attending sporting events and shopping for her daughter.
