We believe strongly in including our patients' loved ones in the healing process. When friends, family members and caregivers work together, patients often experience a higher level of safe, quality care that leads to a faster recovery process and a shorter hospital stay.

While each unit may have specific visitation guidelines appropriate for that level of care, hospital visitation guidelines are as follows:

  • You have the right to have any visitors you designate. The hospital will not restrict, limit or otherwise deny visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.
  • In order to provide an optimum healing environment for our patients, hospital visiting hours are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
  • For the safety of our patients, no sick visitors are allowed at any time.
  • Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. For the wellbeing of our patients, we ask that all children who visit the hospital be healthy and infection-free, with up-to-date immunizations.

Primary Support

Primary Support is defined as the individual(s) who normally provide the patient with physical, psychological or emotional support. A Primary Support is assigned by the patient, parent or surrogate decision maker, and is usually a relative, but may also be a close friend, neighbor or clergy member. These individuals are different than a visitor and can be here 24 hours a day, even outside of visiting hours, as they are designated to provide support to the patient as well as the health care team throughout the patient's stay.

Primary Supports will be issued identification by the nursing unit, which should be worn at all times. For more information regarding Primary Supports, please ask your nurse.

Family Spokesperson

Protecting the patients' health and privacy is critical. Our staff cannot give medical information to unauthorized family members or visitors.

It is important that a spokesperson is appointed by the patient and/or family to receive medical information about the patient to share with other family members and friends. The spokesperson will receive a patient privacy code from the nurse, which is required when calling the unit to obtain patient information.
