Women’s Memorial Hermann at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center has been named an Exemplary Five Star Award-winning hospital for birth registration by the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Vital Statistics Unit. The hospital joins Women’s Memorial Hermann at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital as two of only 20 hospitals in Texas to achieve the 2014 exemplary rating. A total of 36 other Texas hospitals were rated at the standard level, including Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital.
To be recognized with a Five Star Award, hospitals must meet stringent criteria, including release of birth certificates within five days and certificate accuracy in key statistical fields, receipt of the Office of Attorney General Award for Acknowledgement of Paternity and the ImmTrac Award of Excellence, and completing registrar training through state-sponsored conferences.
