TIRR Memorial Hermann was recognized today as one of the nation's top rehabilitation hospitals - climbing to number 3 in the country - in the annual U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Hospitals" rankings.

TIRR Memorial Hermann continues its rise as one of the nation's best rehabilitation hospitals moving up from number four in last year's rankings. The 2012 rankings mark the 23rd consecutive year that TIRR has stood among the top five rehabilitation hospitals across the country.

"It is an exciting day for TIRR Memorial Hermann to be recognized as one of the three best rehabilitation hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report," said Carl E. This year's Best Hospitals, the 23rd annual edition, showcases more than 720 of the nation's roughly 5,000 hospitals. Fewer than 150 are nationally ranked in at least one of 16 medical specialties. The rest of the recognized hospitals met a standard of performance nearly as demanding in one or more specialties.

Several Memorial Hermann hospitals were also recognized by U.S. News & World Report as "high-performing" in certain specialties, including:

  • Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center: Nephrology; cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; geriatrics; neurology and neurosurgery; ophthalmology; orthopedics; pulmonology; and urology.
  • Memorial Hermann Katy: Orthopedics
  • Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center: Orthopedics
  • Memorial Hermann Northwest: Gastroenterology; nephrology; orthopedics and pulmonology.
