Healing garden at Memorial Hermann SoutheastMemorial Hermann Southeast Hospital recently opened a new healing garden on campus. The healing garden is located on the third floor of the hospital near the intensive care unit and will provide employees with outdoor space to reflect and recharge.

The healing garden is part of a larger $14 million expansion and renovation project currently underway at the hospital. The healing garden is unique in that the funding for the project was provided exclusively through donations from employees, physicians and volunteers at Memorial Hermann Southeast.

“The healing garden is a special place because it was made possible by our employees and our volunteers,” says Kyle Price, Sr. Vice President and CEO, Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital. “Our physicians, nurses and staff work with patients and families in various stages of wellness and illness each day and at times a hospital can be a stressful environment. We want to be certain the emotional and spiritual needs of our staff are being met and the healing garden will play an important role in serving those needs.”

The healing garden has been repurposed from unused outdoor space. The benches, fountain and landscaping will provide doctors, nurses and staff a quiet space for reflection.

Currently, Memorial Hermann Southeast is renovating each of the hospital’s 237 patient rooms and seven nursing stations. The renovation and expansion project is expected to be complete by 2018.
