Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center is completing its transformation to a major medical center for the people of west Houston and beyond with the December 2009 opening of Women's Memorial Hermann and Children's Memorial Hermann in the new Memorial Hermann Tower.
Comprising four floors, Women's Memorial Hermann and Children's Memorial Hermann are the first dedicated women's and children's facilities to be built outside of the Texas Medical Center.

In addition to Women's Memorial Hermann Hospital and Children's Memorial Hermann, the 33-story Memorial Hermann Tower offers leading-edge, patient-friendly specialty centers such as its Level III neonatal ICU, the Kate Lindig Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a General Medicine Unit and a Cancer Unit. These services join the more than 100 specialties currently represented in the integrated Memorial Hermann Memorial City campus, including:
"By continuing to expand the services we offer at Memorial City and our other suburban hospitals, we're creating a citywide children's healthcare system capable of responding to the needs of our growing community," said Craig Cordola, CEO of Children's Memorial Hermann.
"We've done more than just expand beds and add pediatric emergency care. We've increased the support systems across the board with pediatric subspecialists ranging from infectious disease, ENT and gastroenterology to cardiology and neurology. Pediatric hospitalists and pediatricians care for our young patients - clinicians skilled at treating young patients who have very different needs than adults," added Cordola.
Children or infants with intensive care or trauma services needs can be transported to Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center by the Children's Transport Team - composed of specially trained nurses and neonatal and pediatric intensive care physicians. Children's Memorial Hermann is one of only two children's Level 1 trauma centers in Texas, providing emergency care to more than 18,000 children each year.
Cordola continued, "Our mission is to bring the best possible neonatal and pediatric subspecialty care to your neighborhood." This year, Children's Memorial Hermann also debuted pediatric emergency centers at our hospitals in Sugar Land and The Woodlands.

Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center is located at I-10 and Gessner in the geographic center of Houston. Upon completion in December 2009, the medical center will house 2.5 million square feet of space - an expansion of 1.5 million square feet - and be licensed for 427 bed.
