HOUSTON (May 27, 2015)

Six Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) athletic trainers were recently awarded Sports Medicine scholarships from Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, the official healthcare provider for SBISD. Northbrook High School’s Amanda Arredondo and Yenifer Rivas, Spring Woods High School’s April Hernandez and David Romay, and Stratford High School’s Alexis Romero and Sindi Romero each received scholarships ranging from $400 to $1,000 in recognition of the distinguished service they provided to SBISD athletic programs during their high school careers. The students will graduate on May 30, and each has big plans for the future.

Arredondo will attend the University of Texas at San Antonio in the Fall to pursue a degree in nursing. Rivas is headed to Texas A&M in College Station to study psychology. Both Hernandez and Romay plan to pursue careers in athletic training at the University of the Incarnate Word and Texas A&M respectively. Alexis Romero is enrolled at The University of Houston-Downtown to study physical therapy and Sindi Romero plans to attend San Jacinto College and Texas Southern University to pursue athletic training.
