Houston's First Baby 2016

Houston’s first baby of 2016 was born just as the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. Key’Asia Adams (pictured with mother Kadedra Davidson) weighs five pounds and is 18.5 inches long.

“We had a feeling she might be coming on New Year’s Day, but we never imagined that it would be exactly midnight,” said Kadedra Davidson, Key’Asia’s mother. “It truly is a wonderful new year and a new beginning for our family. We would like to thank all of the physicians and staff at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital for making this dream come true. We will remember this moment forever.”

Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital had the honor of first baby born in Houston in 2015 as well, but Key’Asia arrived five minutes sooner than 2015’s first baby of the new year. Two other babies were born just moments after the midnight hour at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital: Jonathan Reyes, born at 12:02 a.m., weighing 6.4 pounds and measuring 19 inches long; and Fily Montes, born at 12:17 a.m., weighing 6.5 pounds and measuring 19.5 inches long.

Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital’s first baby arrived at 12:19 a.m. Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center’s first baby followed at 12:39 a.m. Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital’s first baby of the new year arrived at 3:25 a.m.
