HOUSTON (January 04, 2010)

Memorial Hermann Health System recently announced the appointment of George Gaston to CEO of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. Gaston assumed the position on January 4, 2010.

"During his long career with Memorial Hermann, George has demonstrated the attributes of successful leadership that will help us further expand and enhance the many fine services we offer at Memorial Hermann Southwest," said Chuck Stokes, Memorial Hermann Health System Chief Operating Officer.

"I am excited to lead a facility with such a rich history of caring for the healthcare needs of the greater Southwest Houston community," said Gaston. "Our passionate employees, physicians and volunteers are unified in our desire to take Memorial Hermann Southwest to new heights in terms of the quality of care and level of service provided to those in need."

Gaston began his career with Memorial Hermann as an administrative fellow in 1996. In July 1998, he was named administrative director at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. He moved up through the ranks at Memorial Hermann Northwest, where he eventually served as assistant vice president of campus expansion and special projects.

In 2003, Gaston was named assistant vice president of hospital operations at Memorial Hermann Southwest and he fulfilled the role for two years. He then transferred to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, where he has served as CEO for the past two years.

Gaston completed his undergraduate studies in Human Resource Management at Baylor University in 1993, and later earned a Masters in Healthcare Administration, with honors, and a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management both from Washington University in St. Louis. Among his achievements, Gaston was named as one of America's "Up 'N Comers" by Modern Healthcare magazine in 2009. Gaston and his family currently reside in Sugar Land, TX..
