HOUSTON (March 31, 2009)

Gary Kerr has been named Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, after serving as the healthcare institution's interim CEO since January 2009 and COO since 2002.

In his new role, Kerr will administer and coordinate hospital initiatives, develop and maintain relationships with the medical staff and monitor and manage hospital resources to benefit patient care and achieve system goals and objectives. His primary focus will be to grow services at Memorial Hermann Northwest to meet community needs.

"I am confident that Gary's demonstrated leadership skills along with the support of the medical staff and talented Northwest team will continue to strengthen and grow Northwest's programs and services," said Chuck Stokes, Chief Operating Officer of the Memorial Hermann Health System.

Prior to joining Memorial Hermann Northwest as Chief Operating Officer in 2002, Kerr's career spanned more than 18 years in the Christus Health system, where he held the CEO position at Schumpert Bossier Hospital in Bossier City, La. Kerr performed as Senior Development Executive for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston after a tenure as CEO and COO of St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay.

Kerr also was an administrative fellow at the Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word Houston and received his MBA and BBA in business from University of Texas in Austin.
