Today, countless children in Houston and across America face increasing challenges to their health - challenges ranging from the growing number of uninsured children to the steadily climbing rates of childhood obesity. Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital supporters will hit the streets to tackle these challenges and raise funds to help bring better healthcare to more of America's children.
Throughout October, Together for Kids, a national alliance of 53 hospitals serving children, including Children's Memorial Hermann, will launch Walk Across America.
Children's Memorial Hermann will host a "virtual" walk during this time period, allowing busy people to contribute to improving children's healthcare without having to walk at a certain time or place. Walk Across America is a national campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle for kids and raise money to help member hospitals provide quality care to seriously ill children.
"This is an opportunity for Children's Memorial Hermann and our community to step forward and raise funds to help us fulfill our mission of providing care to all children who come through our doors," said Craig Cordola, chief executive officer of Children's Memorial Hermann, one of the nation's largest pediatric hospitals and home to the largest Level 1 trauma center in Houston fully equipped to treat pediatric patients. "We are delighted to take part in this nationwide effort to draw attention to the healthcare challenges children face and to improve the health of kids, not just in Houston but all over America."
Money raised by the walk will go directly to children's hospitals in the Together for Kids network or donations can be directed to Children's Memorial Hermann.
