HUMBLE, TEXAS (July 29, 2014)

“Graduates” of Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are invited to celebrate its 20th anniversary by attending a reunion on Sunday, August 3, 1-3 p.m. in the Humble Civic Center’s Special Events Room.

The Neonatology Program at Memorial Hermann Northeast was established in August 1994 when Angel Muñoz, MD, the area’s first neonatologist, joined the hospital’s medical staff. Since that time, the NICU has cared for more than 4,000 newborns.

The annual reunion, hosted by Memorial Hermann Northeast and the Northeast Hospital Foundation, features kid-friendly refreshments, clowns, balloon animals, and other entertainment. Plus, Muñoz and other NICU staff will be on hand to visit with NICU families.

Memorial Hermann Northeast’s NICU has the ability to care for premature babies with a gestational age as young as 28 weeks, including the capability to provide conventional mechanical ventilation. For children who need a higher-level of care, it also has the support and resources of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital by ground ambulance or via Memorial Hermann Life Flight®.

The event is free for NICU families, but registration is requested for event planning purposes. If your child was cared for by Memorial Hermann Northeast’s NICU, call 713.222.CARE (2273) and make plans to attend.
